[ Anne eyes the cube curiously before resting her fingertips below her throat. ]

I can scarcely wait any longer to try it on. But then you wish to...record it? As a painting? I am not certain, my lord...

[ That sounds too much like a minitaire portrait, and that's sort of an intimate gift. But she doesn't want to be rude when he just got her something, either. ]

As a photograph. Only with your permission, of course.

[It's rude to take pictures of people without permission, after all. It hasn't even occurred to him that her culture would view such a thing in a different way, with the ubiquity of photography he's become used to.]

[ She isn't sure what to say, she feels a bit trapped here. Not that Anne hasn't gotten herself out of plenty of sticky situations, but everything here is very new, and there is culture clash everywhere she looks.

He has a family, but she wouldn't bring that up to dissuade him, she doesn't know him well enough. Maybe it's not seen as adulterous where he's from, and though it might be in her time, it hasn't stopped her before. But that's where there was interest, and it was important. ]

[ She sets the basket between them and pulls back the linen to reveal the bottle; no label, just a card attached to it with her signature. ]

It hardly suffices.

[Wine is not his favorite thing ever, but he will at least try it, since it's a gift. He takes the bottle from the basket.]

I assure you, it does more than suffice. I didn't expect to receive any sort of present.

[ A considerate pause, and Anne reaches up to unfasten the pin on her cloak and untie the knot. Letting the fabric pool on the bench just behind her, she reaches back for her long hair to then pull out of the way, turning so that her back is to him. ]

It seems that for some reason, having my portrait will bring you joy. I want nothing more, so I should like to let you have one with me wearing this wondrous gift; much more than my humble self could possibly deserve.

[Kang sets the bottle to the side and takes the necklace from its box, carefully looping it around her neck and closing the clasp.]

[It does mean a lot to him, to have such reminders of people when he knows that there's a good chance he'll outlive them for at least a century even if he's able to keep in contact with them. It's why he took so quickly to photographs and videos.]
